FAQs
Why deprecate the Customer VM Solution?
On January 3, 2023, Microsoft announced that support for Windows Server 2012 R2 will end on October 10, 2023. Genesys built the BYOC Premises – Customer VM Solution exclusively for Windows Server 2012 R2. Rather than update and continue support for the Customer VM Solution premises deployment, Genesys is focusing our efforts on our cloud deployment options: Genesys Cloud Voice and BYOC Cloud.
What if I require a premises deployment option?
If you require a premises deployment, Genesys recommends our BYOC Premises – Customer Hardware Solution, which offers a more practical and economical premises solution than the VM solution. For more information, see BYOC Premises – Customer Hardware Solution.
What does this mean?
After the EOS date, Genesys will no longer address bugs or minor issues that are specific to this feature. Genesys will continue to resolve major problems until the EOL date. BYOC Premises – Customer VM Solution customers must transition to a 100 percent cloud solution or deploy Customer Hardware Solution Edges.
Am I affected?
If your organization uses the BYOC Premises – Customer VM Solution as a premises Edge solution, you are affected.
What do I need to do before the EOL date?
BYOC Premises – Customer VM Solution organizations must transition to BYOC Cloud, Genesys Cloud Voice or deploy BYOC Premises – Customer Hardware Solution Edge devices in place of Customer VM Solutions. Work with your Genesys channel manager to investigate our cloud deployment options: Genesys Cloud Voice or BYOC Cloud. If you require a premises deployment, you can investigate the BYOC Premises – Customer Hardware Solution.
