You can set up your computer to use a headset for only the PureCloud Softphone audio or for all audio.  

When you select a USB headset, choose a quality headset with noise and echo cancellation. Any headset compatible with your PC should work for PureCloud Softphone audio.

Note: PureCloud Softphone does not support built-in call controls on headsets.

  1. Plug the headset into the computer.
  2. Right-click the PureCloud Softphone icon in the taskbar notification area. SoftphoneConnnectedTray
  3. Select Options from the PureCloud Softphone menu.
  4. Select Audio Configuration.

  5. Do one of the following:
    • Select Use default communication devices if you want to use the Windows default communication device.
    • Select Use custom device settings and specify the headset if you want to use the headset for PureCloud Softphone audio, and it is not the default audio device.
  6. Click OK.

You can also select your headset through Windows and set it up for all audio or for just communication.

  1. Plug the headset into the computer.
  2. Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar notification area. PSspeaker_icon
  3. Click Sounds.
  4. Click the Playback tab.
  5. Click the headset icon.
  6. To use the headset for listening to the PureCloud Softphone and all other computer audio, choose Default Device from the drop-down menu. 
  7. To use the headset for listening only to the PureCloud Softphone and other communication, choose Default Communications Device from the drop-down menu.
  8. Click the Recording tab.
  9. Click the headset icon.
  10. To use the headset microphone for the PureCloud Softphone and all other computer use, choose Default Device from the drop-down menu.
  11. To use the headset microphone for the PureCloud Softphone and other communication, choose Default Communication Device from the drop-down menu.
