Work in the Edit Expression dialog box

The Edit Expression dialog box, also referred to as the large expression editor, lets you build calculations by selecting variables and operators. The large expression editor contains a robust set of tools that help you build automated calculations quickly and easily. You can create expressions for specific actions in task sequences, in prompt and audio scenarios, and transfer actions.

In addition, you can also access Expression Help, which includes a comprehensive list of elements to include in your expression. Here, you can view detailed descriptions, examples, and sample output. Copy and paste a desired example into the audio sequence design form and modify it for your expression.

As you create the expression, you can switch between the large expression editor, literal, or custom expression modes without losing your work, unless you create an expression in literal mode and edit it in the large expression editor. This feature is helpful if you want to see the actual expression Architect generates from what you configure on the sequence builder.

Before you begin, you should have a clearly defined outline of the process you want to create. To learn more about the Edit Expression dialog box, hover over an area of the graphic below, and click to display more information:

By default, Architect presents call flow actions in literal mode. You can switch to expression mode, which allows you to enter simple expressions in the text box. You can also open the large expression editor, where you can enter more complex expressions.
