Disable your browser’s sleep mode setting for WebRTC Media Helper

If you experience connection issues when using the WebRTC Media Helper in a VDI environment, you might want to consider disabling your browser’s sleep mode setting. This setting goes by different names in the different browsers, but the function is the same – to put tabs that the browser considers to be inactive into a sleep mode to conserve memory and power.

While in general putting inactive tabs to sleep is a good concept, it can cause connection issues for WebRTC Media Helper, which requires a consistent connection. When a browser puts a tab in which WebRTC Media Helper is running to sleep, WebRTC Media Helper can lose its connection to the VDI environment. When that happens, WebRTC Media Helper will cease to function correctly and can prevent your agents from working until the connection can be reestablished.
