The External Trunks page has two sections. The upper section contains the base settings needed for an External Trunk. The lower section, which consists of a series of collapsible sections, contains other settings that you can use to refine your external trunk configuration. 

Genesys Cloud recommends that you rely on the base BYOC Premises settings described in this article. However, if your carrier has other requirements, you can use the additional settings to refine your external trunk configuration. For more information, see Configure advanced external trunk settings

Configure an external trunk

  1. Click Admin.
  2. Under Telephony, click Trunks.
  3. Click the External Trunks tab.
  4. Click Create New.
  5. In External Trunk Name, enter a trunk name.
  6. From the Type list, select External SIP. (Not required if the Type field does not appear.)
  7. Confirm that the Trunk State switch is set to In-Service.
  8. Select the Protocol and Listen Port given to you by your SIP provider. 
  9. Under Outbound - SIP Servers or Proxies, enter the IP address for your SIP server or intermediate proxy in the Hostname or IP Address box.
    Note: The trunk will automatically use the default inbound listen port . If you want to use different port, enter that number in the Port box.
  10. Click Plus .
    Note: IP addresses added to the SIP Servers or Proxies section automatically appear in the SIP Access Control Allow list.
  11. Leave Digest Authentication set to Disabled.
  12. Under Calling, specify the Caller Address and Caller Name for the trunk and then use the Prioritized Caller Selection to specify the location from which and order in which you want to display caller ID information to the call recipient.
    1. Leave Availability set to Disabled.
      Warning: Enabling the Availability setting may disrupt the priority of the SIP Servers or Proxies list you configured for your trunk.
    2. Leave Registration set to Disabled.
    3. Under SIP Access Control:
      • Confirm that Use Source Address is set to Yes.
      • Confirm that any IP addresses that were added to the SIP Servers or Proxies section appear in the Allow the Following Addresses list.
      • Leave the Always Deny the Following Addresses blank.
      • Leave the Allow All check box unselected.

    4. Click Save External Trunk.
