Get started with digital user tracking

Prerequisites

Digital user tracking, formerly known as journey tracking, can be enabled, configured, and deployed directly within Messenger, setting customized tracking options for different web domains and business contexts. With Digital User Tracking enabled, agents can see real-time customer journeys directly within the conversation view and administrators can leverage web and app events for advanced journey analytics and orchestration use cases. The following steps outline the high-levels steps required to begin using digital user tracking.
    1. Configure Messenger – Create a new configuration or edit an existing one to enable digital user tracking in your configuration.
    2. (Optional) Customize your web tracking settings – In the digital user tracking configuration section, refine tracking behavior by filtering out specific audiences and choosing what to track as page views or site searches.
    3. Publish your Messenger configuration.
    4. Deploy Messenger – Create a Messenger deployment and assign a version of a Messenger configuration before publishing your deployment.
    5. Start web tracking – Insert the Messenger snippet generated by your Messenger deployment in your website to start tracking it.
    6. Start mobile tracking – Use App Events APIs to track visitors in your mobile app.
    7. (Optional) Track custom events – Set up additional web events adapted to your requirements by using the journey plugin available in Messenger JavaScript SDK.
    8. View web and app visits –  See who is active in Live Now and give agents access to real-time customer journeys right beside their conversations with online visitors.
