If you set up a BYOC Premises Edge with a direct connection to the Internet and then later need to use a proxy to connect your premises-based Edge to the Internet, you can set up the proxy configuration using the controls on the Network tab. The way you go about this task will depend on the connection state of your Edge – either online or offline.

Notes:
  • Only the WAN port can be set up with a proxy.
  • Proxy support is limited to HTTP traffic and does not include media traffic.
  • SRTP and RTP will not route through the configured proxy.
  • While this operation typically doesn’t require you to reboot the Edge, some network environments may require a new HTTP request from the device for validation. Rebooting the Edge will initiate a new HTTP request, thus providing the validation.

  1. Click Admin.
  2. Under Telephony, click Edges.
  3. From the Edge Name column, select your Edge.
  4. Click the Network tab.
  5. Select the WAN port.
  6. What you see and do next will depend on whether your Edge is currently online or offline.

  1. Click the HTTP Proxy tab.
  2. Select the Use proxy check box.
  3. Enter a hostname, FQDN, or IP address in the Proxy Address box.
  4. Enter a port number in the Port box.
  5. Click Save Interfaces.

After you save the Network Interfaces settings, your Edge will go offline. When you connect the Edge to the proxy network, it goes online and connects to the Internet.

  1. Click Edit Network Settings. (The Edit Network Settings dialog appears.)
  2. Click the HTTP Proxy tab.
  3. Select the Use proxy check box.
  4. Enter a hostname, FQDN, or IP address in the Proxy Address box.
  5. Enter a port number in the Port box.
  6. Click Download.
  7. When the download is complete, plug a USB flash drive into the USB port on your PC.
  8. Locate the download package, which is saved as a .zip file in the Downloads folder on your PC.
  9. Copy the download package .zip file from your PC drive onto the USB flash drive. Do NOT extract the .zip file!
  10. Eject the USB flash drive from your PC.
  11. Plug the USB flash drive into the USB port on the Edge after the system is up and running.
  12. Wait for the Edge to locate the download package and apply the settings.
  13. Once the Edge applies the settings it will go online.
