Manage DID and toll-free number ranges

Prerequisites

  • Telephony > Plug-in All permissions

After you purchase numbers from your carrier service, you use the DID Ranges feature to make those numbers available in your organization. This feature allows you to set up, edit, and delete DID and toll-free numbers. The main display consists of a table that allows you to view all of your numbers. To help you organize your numbers, can adjust the view by choosing which columns appear in the table.

You can then assign numbers to a person, a phone, or a call flow

Note: If you are using Genesys Cloud Voice, you should use Number Management to administer your numbers. For more information, see About Genesys Cloud Voice.

Set up number ranges

Notes:
  • Each number in the range must be a valid number with a valid country code and area code.
  • You cannot add previously assigned or numbers that overlap an existing number range.
  • A number range cannot contain more than 100,000 numbers.

To set up a range of numbers:

  1. Click Admin.
  2. Under Telephony, click DID Numbers.
  3. Click the DID Ranges tab.
  4. Click Create Range to access the Create Range panel.
  5. In the DID Start box, select the country, and then type the first number in the range.
  6. In the DID End box, select the same country, and then type the last number in the range.
  7. Type the name of carrier in the Service Provider box.
  8. Type any appropriate notes in the Comments box.
  9. Click Save.

You now see your range of numbers in the table on the DID Ranges tab and can assign them. For more information, see Assign DID and toll-free numbers.

Tips:
  • To set up a single number, enter the same number in both the DID Start box and the DID End box.
  • Use Comments help you to identify numbers or ranges later when you assign them.

Edit numbers

  1. Access the DID Ranges tab.
  2. Select the check box next to the number or a range of numbers you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit Range .
  4. In the Edit Range panel, make your changes.
  5. Click Save.

Delete numbers

  1. Access the DID Ranges tab.
  2. Select the check box next to the number or a range of numbers you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete Range .
  4. Click Delete to confirm.

Choose columns

  1. Access the DID Ranges tab.
  2. Click Select columns .
  3. In the Data to Display panel:
    • Select the check box next to the columns you want to appear in table.
    • Clear the check box next to the columns you want to remove from the table.
  4. Click Save.

The Data to Display panel allows you to select these columns.

Column Description
ID This is a unique ID that a developer can use to work with the number range in the public API.
DID Range The range of numbers.
Service Provider The name of the carrier or service provider associated with the number or range of numbers.
Comments Optional notes about the number or range of numbers.
