Enable DHCP and DNS on your server for phone provisioning
You can configure your DNS / DHCP Servers to allow for automatic provisioning to multiple Genesys Cloud Edges.
For more information on DHCP and DNS, see Enable DHCP on the phone to discover the phone settings from the Edge.
DNS
Genesys recommends that you deploy Edges in an N+1 configuration, where N is the number of Edges required to meet the expected maximum concurrent call load. This N+1 configuration ensures that you are able to place and receive both ACD and non-ACD calls if the active Edge fails or goes offline for routine maintenance. In order for phone provisioning to work reliably, you should create a Host A record for each Edge that you have in your telephony configuration.
For example, if you have three Edges, you would create three Host A records with the same name on your DNS server:
GenesysCloudEdge – Primary Edge IP Address
GenesysCloudEdge – Backup1 Edge IP Address
GenesysCloudEdge – Backup2 Edge IP Address
DHCP
Configure Option 160 on your DHCP Server. The default ports for BYOC Premises are 80 for http and 443 for https. However, you can use any ports you wish as long as they are reachable and don’t conflict with anything else currently in use on the Edge.
- Option 160 = http://GenesysCloudEdge:80
- Option 160 = https://GenesysCloudEdge:443 – When provisioning phones with TLS trunks.
Legacy
For legacy organizations, you can still use ports 8088 for http and 8089 for https.
- Option 160 = http://GenesysCloudEdge:8088
- Option 160 = https://GenesysCloudEdge:8089 – When provisioning phones with TLS trunks.
