UK Longcode Registration Requirement for SMS

As part of new UK regulatory requirements, all organizations must register their business and use case before using UK Longcodes for SMS. This Know Your Customer (KYC) process involves collecting essential business details to validate the authenticity of organizations engaging in Application-to-Person (A2P) communications.
As of May 27, 2024, any new SMS UK Longcode purchase will require an approved KYC registration. By September 30, 2024, all existing UK Longcodes must be associated with an approved KYC registration, or they will be released and potentially unavailable for re-acquisition. To avoid service disruption, businesses must register their KYC information. Genesys will assist customers and partners in completing the registration process and complying with KYC requirements.
This regulation aims to combat unsolicited phishing and spam in telecommunications, addressing the rise in fraud and scams. All customers using UK Longcodes for SMS with Genesys software are affected, though voice calls on UK Longcodes remain unaffected.
