Deprecation: Genesys Cloud Ruby SDK
|Announced on/End of support||End of Life date|
|September 30, 2020||June 30, 2021|
Starting September 30, 2020, Genesys will no longer make enhancements, improvements, or provide support to the Genesys Cloud Ruby SDK beyond version 96.0.0. Genesys will freeze the Ruby SDK (v96.0.0) at its current version level. Any new enhancements to the API or bug fixes will not be backported. This decision reflects the overall consumption of the Genesys Cloud Ruby SDK compared with the other Genesys Cloud SDKs.
To complete the Genesys Cloud Ruby Platform SDK deprecation, on June 30, 2021, Genesys removed the Ruby SDK documentation and ancillary Ruby SDK resources from the Developer Center. The source code is archived at Github. It will remain in place, with no support, warranty, or updates, unless a removal notice is issued in the future.
Am I affected?
This deprecation affects you if you use the Genesys Cloud Ruby SDK.
How can I prepare for this deprecation?
If you need to take advantage of new features or bug fixes outside the Genesys Cloud Ruby SDK, use the Genesys Cloud REST endpoints directly.
- The Genesys Cloud Ruby SDK at its current API version (version 96.0.0) will continue to be hosted at https://rubygems.org.
- The SDK generator repo will be branched to retain the Ruby SDK configuration for users wanting to continue to generate the SDK locally. The Ruby SDK configuration will be removed from the master branch.
- All Genesys Cloud Ruby SDK tutorials, documentation, and code samples on the Genesys Cloud Developer Center will continue to be hosted through Q2 of 2021. No additional updates or changes will be made to these documents.
- The Genesys Cloud Ruby SDK forum will be removed within the next two weeks.
