Assign DID and toll-free numbers
Prerequisites
- Telephony > Plug-in > All permission (included in the Telephony Admin role)
View all or search for specific DID or toll-free numbers and review assignee details in the Assignments tab.
Note: If you assign a DID number to multiple users, only the first person assigned to the number appears on the Assignments tab.
Column | Description |
---|---|
DID Number | The numbers, listed in numeric order, assigned to a user, call or message route, group, or phone. |
Filter by DID Number search box | Type the first few digits of the number that you want to find and select the appropriate match. |
Type | The category to which the number was assigned: User, call or message route, group, or phone. |
Assignee | The user, or call or message route to which the number was assigned. The entry is a link that provides details about the configuration. |
- Click Admin.
- Under People and Permissions, click People.
- Use the Active and Inactive People box to narrow your search.
- Use Search or filters to further narrow your search.
- Click the person to whom you want to assign a number.
- Click the Person Details tab, click View Edit Mode, and click Edit in Contact Information.
- In the Phone area, add the number to the appropriate phone.
- Optionally indicate whether the phone number is the user's primary phone number and if the phone accepts text messaging (SMS).
- Click Save.
- Click Admin.
- Under Routing, click Call Routing.
- Click .
- In the Name field, type a unique call routing name. This name appears in your list of entries on the Call Routing page.
- To add phone numbers to associate with the configuration, do the following:
- Under Addresses, click .
- Type the complete telephone number string in numeric format only.
- Click Submit.
- Repeat step 5 to add more telephone numbers.
- Click Save.
- Click Admin.
- Under Directory, click Groups.
- Find the group that you want to add a group phone number to and click Edit Group.
- In the Group Details tab, click Edit.
- Click Edit Contact Information.
- In the Group Phone field, type the phone number or extension that you want to use.
- Click Save. The group phone number displays in the group contact information.
- Click Admin.
- Under Telephony, click Phone Management.
- Find the stand-alone phone and click it to open the Phones page.
- In the Phone tab, confirm that the Standalone Features selector is On.
- Click the Line Keys tab.
- In the Key Label field, type a key label name.Note: The Key Label field is pre-populated with the Key Label name configured in the Base Line Appearance field.Note: The key label names appear next to the function keys on the physical phone.
- In the Line Appearance Id box, type a name, without spaces or symbols.
- To use more line keys for this line appearance, check the Span appearance to remaining keys check box.
- To disable other line keys for this line appearance, clear the Span appearance to remaining keys check box.
- To assign a number, type the number in the DID box.Note: When a number is the emergency callback number (ANI), confirm that the number is registered with your carrier to show the correct address for emergency services.
- To add an extension or extensions, fill in the Assign Extensions box, type the number, and click +.
- To create a line appearance setting with default configuration settings, click Save Phone.
- To create a line appearance setting with custom configuration settings, select the arrow next to the Configuration topic you want to configure, and modify the settings.
- Click Save Phone.
- Click Admin.
- Under Telephony, click DID Numbers.
- In the Assignments tab, click Filter by DID Number, type the number you want to find, and select the appropriate match from the results.
- To view details about the number assignment, click the link in the Assignee column. One of the following occurs:
- If the number is assigned to a user, the user's Profile page displays.
- If the number is assigned to a call or message route (IVR), the Call Routing page or the Message Routing page opens.
- Click Admin.
- Under Telephony, click DID Numbers.
- In the Assignment tab, click Filter by DID Number, type the number you want to find, and select the appropriate match from the results.
- To remove the number from a user, do the following:
- In the Assignee column, click the link of the user associated with the number. The People displays.
- On the Person Details tab, click View Edit Mode, and click Edit in Contact Information.
- Find the number that you want to remove and clear it from the box.
- Click Save.
- To remove the number from a call or message route, do the following:
- In the Assignee column, click the link of the call or message route (IVR) associated with the number. The Call Routing page or the Message Routing page displays.
- In the Called Addresses box, find the number you want to remove and click the red X.
- Click Save Configuration.
